Elliot Von Doppler and his friend Leslie think nothing ever happens in Bickleburgh, except inside the gleaming headquarters of DENKi-3000—the world’s eighth-largest electronics factory. Beneath the glass towers and glittering skywalks, there’s a rambling old mansion from which all the company’s amazing inventions spring forth. And no one except Uncle Archie knows what’s behind the second-to-last door at the end of the hall.

  1. The Creature Department was one of the most adventurous books i have ever read in my life. I loved how they included the creatures in the story so much. This book was very interesting and i really liked how they included the children in the story so much and put them in grown up situations. -sophia

  7. I liked this book more the second time, rather then the first. I think it was really funny, especially at the end, because your not sure if famous Freddy is a creature or not. Also, I think it's cool how they made the book about inventions, because it's cool when the author comes up with crazy inventions that are actually really cool. In all, it actually wasn't such a bad book after all. ( I didn't like it because I thought it wasn't that interesting because I thought there wasn't that big of a twist at the end, but there were two; the kiss between Elliot and Leslie, and famous Freddy maybe being a creature)

  8. I didn't like this book that much really, but the author's voice really came through. The playfulness of all the creatures was very funny but to make it better I would have loved if they had explained more about what happened to the creatures before they came to the department, and what all the sad memories were about. I did like the idea of the essences though, and the ending really kept me on my toes. Overall, not bad! -Anna R, Room 306

  9. I liked this book because it was very fun. The author described the creatures very well which created a picture in my head of what they looked like. The one thing I did not like about this book is that there were about 30 pages in it that had very little plot and I would have liked to see more events in those 30 pages. Overall, this is a great playful book and I would recommend it.-Daniel R
